Frosinone’s Heroic Draw With League Leaders Pisa with 10 Men; Sampdoria and Catanzaro Win

In the three Serie B games on Sunday, Frosinone pulled off the biggest shock.

Frosinone Holds Pisa to 0-0 Despite Early Red Card

In a resilient display at the Benito Stirpe Stadium, Frosinone, led by newly appointed coach Leandro Greco, held Serie B frontrunners Pisa to a 0-0 draw despite being reduced to 10 men just minutes into the game. Venezuelan striker Cichero was sent off after a VAR review determined his challenge on Pisa’s goalkeeper Semper warranted a straight red card in the fourth minute. With over 85 minutes left to play, Frosinone faced an uphill battle.

Yet, Greco’s team mounted a commendable defensive performance, neutralising Pisa’s attacking efforts while conceding minimal chances. Pisa gradually asserted dominance in the second half, with Bonfanti’s goal ruled out for a foul on Monterisi. The visitors failed to break the deadlock, with striker Piccinini unable to capitalise on a late chance, allowing Frosinone to claim a hard-earned point. Pisa remains at the top of the table with a slender two-point lead over Sassuolo, while Frosinone broke a two-game losing streak.

Sampdoria Secures 1-0 Win Over Mantova

Sampdoria, now buoyed by consecutive victories, edged out Mantova 1-0 at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. Following a strong first half where Romagnoli hit the post, Sampdoria finally broke through in the second half. Kasami netted the decisive goal, courtesy of a precise pass from Tutino, giving the Blucerchiati their second consecutive win. Mantova pressed for an equaliser but fell short of any significant threats, leaving Sampdoria in seventh position in the standings.

Catanzaro Triumphs Over Sudtirol with Iemmello’s Brilliance

After a challenging stretch without a win, Catanzaro delivered a commanding 3-0 victory over Sudtirol. Pontisso opened the scoring early with a header, and captain Pietro Iemmello took charge thereafter, scoring a magnificent goal from distance and later converting a penalty to seal the match before half-time. Catanzaro’s dominant performance ended their two-month winless streak, whereas Sudtirol’s poor form continued with their second straight loss.
