Liverpool Among Premier League Clubs Eyeing Roma Star

AS Roma’s rising star Niccolò Pisilli is being linked with a summer move to the Premier League, with Nottingham Forest, Liverpool, and Aston Villa identified as potential destinations.

Pisilli: A Star in the Making

Niccolò Pisilli, 20, is enjoying a breakthrough season with Roma. After making three appearances last year, he has firmly established himself in José Mourinho’s side this term, tallying two goals and one assist in 22 appearances across all competitions. The young midfielder has also featured five times in the Europa League, further highlighting his growing importance to the team.

Pisilli’s development has earned him a call-up to the Italian national team, making his debut in October 2024. His ability to contribute both defensively and offensively, combined with a composed playing style, has drawn comparisons to some of Italy’s finest midfielders.

Premier League Links: Ambitious Speculation

The Daily Mail recently listed Pisilli among Serie A’s emerging talents and suggested that Nottingham Forest, Liverpool, and Aston Villa could be potential suitors. While the speculation is intriguing, it would likely take significant persuasion—and investment—for Roma to part with their homegrown talent. Pisilli, born in Rome, is deeply tied to his boyhood club, and his development under Mourinho has been steady and promising.

For Nottingham Forest, whose priority appears to be securing attacking reinforcements this window, a move for Pisilli seems less pressing. With midfield options like Ryan Yates, Nicolas Dominguez, Danilo, and Ibrahim Sangaré already in the squad, Forest may lack the immediate need for another central midfielder. However, should the club qualify for European competition, bolstering squad depth could become a priority.

Liverpool and Aston Villa, both of whom have a history of investing in young talent, could provide a more compelling case for Pisilli. Their established positions in the Premier League and frequent European campaigns might make them more attractive destinations for the ambitious midfielder.

Site Opinion: A Dream Move or Unlikely Reality?

While the idea of Pisilli joining Nottingham Forest or Aston Villa is exciting, it feels far-fetched for the summer of 2025. Liverpool’s stature and ability to develop young talent might make them a more realistic contender should Roma consider selling.

For Pisilli, staying at Roma offers the chance to further develop under Mourinho’s guidance and compete regularly in Serie A and Europe. Unless a substantial offer arrives, Roma are unlikely to part with a player who represents their future.

While Forest and Villa are building squads capable of competing on bigger stages, prying Pisilli away from Roma would require ambition, resources, and a compelling pitch. For now, this transfer remains speculative, but Pisilli’s rising profile ensures he will stay on the radar of Europe’s top clubs.
