Sirius Football Club is working hard to secure contract extensions for two of their standout players, goalkeeper Jakob Tånnander and centre-back Henrik Rönnlöf Castegren.
Both players have been integral to the team’s solid performance in this year’s Allsvenskan, helping Sirius to a respectable seventh place with four matches remaining. As their contracts approach expiration at the end of the year, the club is keen to keep them on board.
Speaking to FotbollDirekt, sporting director Jonathan Ederström confirmed that discussions are ongoing. “We are in dialogue with both Jakob and Henke, and we would like to see a continuation with them at Sirius,” he said. “We’ll see where it lands, but we are hopeful.”
Both Tånnander and Castegren have been pivotal in Sirius’ campaign, with Tånnander keeping two clean sheets in 28 appearances and Castegren contributing one goal and two assists in 24 matches. Their consistent presence in the starting eleven has solidified Sirius’ defence throughout the season.
When asked about the potential impact of losing both players at the end of the year, Ederström admitted, “Would it be difficult? Of course, but no player is irreplaceable. However, we would certainly like to keep them in Sirius.”
Noel Milleskog Linked with Swansea City
Meanwhile, rumours continue to swirl around another Sirius player, 22-year-old Noel Milleskog. Reports suggest that Championship side Swansea City are prepared to offer between 20 to 25 million SEK for the talented forward. Milleskog, who joined from Djurgården last winter, has had an impressive season with eight goals and four assists in 24 games.
Though Milleskog remains focused on finishing the season strong, he acknowledged the interest from Swansea. “It’s fun, and a sign that I’ve had a good season,” he said. “But I still feel I have a lot to give, and this interest only fuels me to finish the season on a high.”
Should the deal materialise, it could surpass Sirius’ current transfer record, which was set by Wessam Ali’s 22 million SEK move to the Middle East. Milleskog emphasised that any potential transfer would need to benefit both himself and Sirius. “It’s important to me that Sirius is happy with the deal as well. This club has played a huge part in my development,” he added.

Sirius is wise to focus on retaining key players like Tånnander and Castegren. With the club on the verge of pushing for European qualification, stability at the back will be crucial. Tånnander’s shot-stopping abilities and Castegren’s leadership in defence have been vital in maintaining Sirius’ strong position in the Allsvenskan table. Losing either, or both, could destabilise the squad at a critical time.
However, the club must also recognise the financial realities of modern football. As seen with Milleskog, Sirius is developing players who are attracting significant interest from bigger leagues. Balancing the desire to build a competitive team with the need to capitalise on transfer opportunities will be key to the club’s future success. Retaining core players while benefiting from high-value transfers is the fine line Sirius must walk.
