Norwich City Scouts Tracking Bundesliga Sensation Ahead of January Window

Norwich City are leading the chase for SV Elversberg striker Younes Ebnoutalib after the Moroccan’s explosive start to the Bundesliga 2 season.

SportsBoom reports that the 22-year-old forward has become one of the most sought-after names in European football after firing nine goals in his first ten appearances of the campaign.

Norwich Join Race for Prolific German Striker

Reports from Germany suggest that Norwich City have identified Younes Ebnoutalib as a prime January target following the long-term injury suffered by Croatian striker Ante Crnac, who ruptured his ACL earlier this month. With Norwich short on attacking options, the Elversberg hitman’s pace, movement, and clinical finishing have made him an attractive option for sporting director Ben Knapper as the club looks to strengthen for the second half of the season.

Bundesliga sides TSG Hoffenheim and Union Berlin are also believed to be monitoring Ebnoutalib’s progress, while scouts from England, Italy, and Turkey have been spotted at the Waldstadion an der Kaiserlinde in recent weeks.

Elversberg, currently sitting third in the Bundesliga 2 standings, are said to value their star forward at between €6–8 million, and with his contract running until 2028, they hold a strong negotiating position ahead of any winter bids.

Rapid Rise from Regional Football to European Radar

Ebnoutalib’s ascent has been nothing short of remarkable. Less than a year ago, he was playing regional football for FC Gießen before earning a short-term opportunity with Elversberg. After making just four appearances at the end of last season, he exploded into form this term, netting nine times already—including a stunning hat-trick against SpVgg Greuther Fürth that underlined his instinctive finishing ability.

The forward’s athleticism, confidence, and quick adaptation to the professional game have caught the attention of recruitment teams across the continent. Sources close to Elversberg say the club expects further approaches before the January window opens, as sides look to move quickly before his price tag climbs further.

For Norwich City, who have ambitions of returning to the Premier League, but are currently battling the drop, a mid-season swoop could prove decisive. Signing one of Europe’s most in-form young strikers before rivals act may be the difference between a promotion push and another year in the Championship.
