Barcelona winger Raphinha remains content at the club and is not seeking a move, despite significant interest from Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea ahead of the summer window.
Premier League Clubs Express Interest in Raphinha
TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey reports that intermediaries have made Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea aware of the potential opportunity to sign Raphinha this summer. The Brazilian has long been admired by English sides following his standout performances for Leeds United before his move to Barcelona.
Interest from the Premier League trio remains strong, with intermediaries suggesting that Raphinha could be available for a fee in the region of £80 million. Several other clubs have also been alerted to his possible availability.
Barcelona Determined to Retain Raphinha
Despite external interest, Barcelona have made it clear they are keen to keep Raphinha at the club. The 28-year-old’s current contract runs until 2027, and sporting director Deco has already initiated preliminary discussions about extending his stay with improved terms.
Raphinha has thrived at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, becoming a key figure in Barcelona’s setup. Earlier in the season, Deco had admitted he had considered selling certain players, including Raphinha, but the Brazilian’s form has changed the landscape dramatically. He is now considered one of the club’s most valuable assets.
Indeed, Thierry Henry has gone as far as to say that Raphinha could claim the Ballon d’Or, with the Frenchman declaring that he “is currently leading the race” for the prestigious award.
Saudi Pro League Interest Brushed Aside
In addition to Premier League suitors, clubs from the Saudi Pro League have also shown strong interest, willing to pay a substantial £100 million to land the Brazilian. However, sources indicate that Raphinha has little interest in a move to Saudi Arabia and is focused on continuing his journey at Barcelona.
With the summer transfer window approaching, Barcelona are keen to act swiftly. Talks over a new contract are expected to intensify in the coming months as the Catalan giants aim to fend off any advances and secure Raphinha’s future at the club.
Site Opinion
From Barcelona’s standpoint, Raphinha’s contentment and commitment come as a major boost. In a climate where many top players are lured away by lucrative offers, having a player of Raphinha’s calibre fully invested in the project at the Camp Nou speaks volumes about the environment being cultivated under Deco’s sporting leadership.
While Premier League sides circle and Saudi riches loom, Barcelona’s priority must be to swiftly finalise a new deal. Raphinha’s development into one of the world’s top wingers has been remarkable, and keeping him could be pivotal in their ambitions to reclaim domestic and European dominance over the coming seasons.
