Torino forward Che Adams is at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war as Birmingham City prepare a substantial offer to bring him back to England, according to reports from Football Insider.
The Scottish international joined Torino in July 2024 on a free transfer following his departure from Southampton. While the Serie A side had high hopes for the experienced striker, his debut season has been solid but not spectacular—scoring 10 goals and providing four assists in 34 appearances across all competitions.
Despite having two years remaining on his contract, the 28-year-old is now the subject of serious interest from his former club, who are looking to build a promotion-challenging side in the Championship next season.
Birmingham’s Ambition Tests Torino’s Resolve
The offer on the table is reportedly “blockbuster” in nature, reflecting Birmingham’s determination to bring Adams back to St Andrew’s. Having just been crowned League One champions, they are expected to back manager Tony Mowbray with significant transfer funds as they target back-to-back promotions.
Adams previously spent three years with the Blues, enjoying a breakthrough campaign in 2018–19 that saw him score 22 league goals. That form ultimately earned him a move to Southampton and, more recently, Torino.
While Adams has adjusted well to life in Italy, the opportunity to return to familiar surroundings—and a starring role—may be tempting. However, Torino are unlikely to let him go easily. His physicality and versatility up front have added depth to Ivan Jurić’s squad, and he remains one of the club’s more consistent attacking outlets.
“Birmingham City are working on a deal to re-sign Torino forward Che Adams,” sources told Football Insider. “It is believed the League One champions will offer the Scotland international a big-money, blockbuster contract.”
The situation places Torino in a dilemma: cash in on an asset who may want a return to England, or hold firm and keep a striker who has just completed his first full campaign in Serie A.
Adams has been a key figure in the club’s attacking transitions, often deployed both centrally and on the left of a front two. His early season heroics, including a match-winning goal against Atalanta, helped settle initial doubts, and he remains popular among the fanbase.
Site Opinion
Che Adams’ name carries weight in English football, but his first year in Turin shouldn’t be underestimated. While Birmingham’s approach may flatter the forward, Torino must weigh the long-term value he brings to their attacking plans. Losing Adams would be a blow—particularly without a clear replacement lined up. If he does leave, Torino will need to act swiftly and smartly in the transfer market to avoid losing momentum.
