Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on Espanyol’s Joan García, regarded as the best goalkeeper in La Liga this season, as they consider potential changes between the posts.
While the club is not actively searching for a new goalkeeper, uncertainties surrounding Thibaut Courtois and Andriy Lunin could alter plans for next season.
However, attention may soon shift to the goalkeeper position. Courtois, widely regarded as one of the world’s finest shot-stoppers, is nearing 33 years of age and has suffered a serious knee injury alongside other physical issues over the past two seasons. His deputy, Ukrainian international Andriy Lunin, could seek a move away from the Bernabéu in search of regular first-team football.
Although no immediate move for a new goalkeeper is being made, the club’s hierarchy remains interested in Joan García. The 24-year-old has impressed throughout the season with a string of outstanding performances. Arsenal attempted to sign García last summer, but he opted to remain at Espanyol. Interest is expected to intensify again this summer.
