19-Year-Old ‘Open’ to Real Madrid Move Amidst Breakthrough Season

Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen admits he would not dismiss a move to Real Madrid, with a release clause in his contract potentially paving the way for a future transfer.

Premier League Breakout Draws Real Madrid Interest

Dean Huijsen, who has enjoyed a standout debut season at Bournemouth, has acknowledged that a switch to Real Madrid remains a possibility. The Spain international confirmed he has a release clause written into his long-term contract at the Vitality Stadium, sparking further speculation over his future.

Speaking to El Chiringuito TV, Huijsen was asked directly about a potential move to Madrid. He responded: “I don’t know, we’ll see. It’s a big team. Every player wants to play in the maximum [level] possible.”

The 19-year-old joined Bournemouth from Juventus last summer in a deal worth £12.8 million and has made an immediate impact, scoring twice across 25 Premier League appearances as the Cherries challenge for a European place.

Contract Details and Release Clause

Huijsen’s current deal runs until 2030, but the young defender admitted: “I have a contract until 2030, [but] I do have a [release] clause.” Although he declined to disclose the specific figure, reports suggest the buy-out is set at approximately £50 million.

When pressed about his plans for next season, Huijsen offered no guarantees: “I don’t know. I have no idea.”

Admiration for Real Madrid and Sergio Ramos

The young Spaniard has made no secret of his admiration for Real Madrid, particularly legendary captain Sergio Ramos. “Ramos, since I was young,” Huijsen replied when asked who he idolised growing up.

Huijsen also spoke highly of Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, stating: “I think he is a very good coach. He’s not at Madrid for nothing. He has his merit.”

Despite the speculation, Huijsen insists he remains grounded and fully committed to his current side. “I don’t read anything. I keep working and remain humble. I’m focused on Bournemouth. We have seven games left and they are important. I’m only thinking about that.”

Family Influence and Future Dreams

Huijsen revealed that his father, who also serves as his agent, visited Real Madrid’s Valdebebas training ground when Dean was just 16. He credits his parents with helping him stay level-headed, saying: “My father has played football and knows the mistakes that you can make. My mother advises me to be humble and to continue to work.”

When discussing Spain’s two giants, Huijsen diplomatically said: “Madrid and Barça have great players.”

Looking ahead, he also expressed a personal ambition to one day represent his boyhood club: “It would be a dream to play for Malaga at the end of my career,” he said.

Madrid’s Defensive Needs Could Accelerate Interest

Real Madrid are expected to strengthen their defensive options this summer, particularly with Éder Militão and David Alaba both enduring seasons disrupted by ACL injuries. Manager Carlo Ancelotti has been forced to rely heavily on academy graduate Raúl Asencio alongside Antonio Rüdiger.

Site Opinion

From Bournemouth’s perspective, Dean Huijsen’s rapid rise is both a blessing and a challenge. The Cherries have nurtured a tremendous talent in the Spaniard, who has seamlessly adapted to Premier League football at a remarkably young age. However, such success inevitably invites attention from Europe’s elite, and it will be difficult to retain him if Madrid come calling with the reported £50 million release clause ready to trigger.

For Huijsen himself, patience could be key. Bournemouth offer regular top-flight football, a supportive environment, and an opportunity to continue maturing. While the lure of the Bernabéu is undeniable, ensuring he is fully prepared for the step up could make all the difference to a long and successful career at the very highest level.
