Next Big Thing? Arsenal, Man City, and Bayern Chase Rapid-Rising Feyenoord Talent

Arsenal, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich have reportedly sent scouts to monitor 19-year-old Feyenoord right-back Givairo Read as his rapid rise continues in the Eredivisie.

The Dutch youngster has quickly become one of the most talked-about defensive talents in Europe, with clubs from England and Germany now circling ahead of the 2026 summer window.

Read, who came through the youth systems at Zeeburgia and FC Volendam before joining Feyenoord, made his senior debut in February 2024 and has since made nearly 50 appearances for the Rotterdam club.

His tally of four goals and 11 assists highlights his attacking quality, while his versatility and composure have drawn comparisons to modern hybrid full-backs thriving in Europe’s elite leagues.

Rising Star Attracting Elite Interest

Arsenal are believed to be monitoring the situation closely, with scouts attending recent Feyenoord matches. Despite Mikel Arteta’s use of centre-backs in wide roles, Read’s natural energy and balance between defence and attack are thought to appeal to the North London hierarchy as they plan long-term defensive reinforcements.
Meanwhile, Manchester City are searching for greater depth on the right flank, where Pep Guardiola has alternated between Rico Lewis and Matheus Nunes. Read’s intelligence and positional flexibility reportedly fit Guardiola’s tactical system, making him a strong candidate for future recruitment.

Continental Competition Builds

In Germany, Bayern Munich are also in the mix. Current right-back Sacha Boey has yet to fully convince under Vincent Kompany, and Austrian midfielder Konrad Laimer has often been used as cover in that position. Read’s pace and precision have impressed Bayern’s recruitment team, who view him as a potential long-term solution.
Despite growing speculation, the player himself remains focused on Feyenoord’s campaign. Speaking recently, he said:

“It doesn’t distract me, you know. I’m comfortable at Feyenoord, and my development here is the only thing on my mind.”
