New Controversy Emerges in Hertha Berlin Presidency Race

Stepan Timoshin, the 23-year-old entrepreneur known as the “sneaker millionaire,” is vying for the presidency of Hertha Berlin at today’s general meeting. However, just before the election, Timoshin is facing fresh allegations that threaten to overshadow his bid.

According to Spiegel, several business partners of Timoshin have raised concerns about outstanding payments, with former employees reportedly not receiving their salaries on time. The report also highlights unverified claims regarding improper credit card usage through a company credit card in Timoshin’s name.

Legal Response and Public Defence

Timoshin’s lawyer, Joachim Nikolaus Steinhöfel, has strongly refuted these accusations. In a statement to the Berliner Morgenpost, Steinhöfel called the allegations “a false statement of fact” and categorically denied any wrongdoing. He further accused the media of misleading reporting based on suspicion and announced plans to bring the matter to the Press Council for review.

The controversy intensified when Timoshin, who had previously announced a documentary about himself would be available on Amazon Prime, saw the streaming giant contradict his claims. Amazon Prime denied any such project, adding fuel to the fire of public scrutiny.

Timoshin’s Football Investments

In a development of particular interest to Hertha fans, Timoshin has also made significant investments in the football industry, acquiring a 7.5 percent stake in the football investment company “Libero Football Finance AG.” Former Hertha manager Fredi Bobic is a part of the advisory board at Libero, creating further links to the club.

At the Hertha members’ meeting at the Berlin Exhibition Centre, Timoshin, along with four other presidential candidates, will have five minutes to promote himself to the voting members. When asked by BILD about his feelings before the event, Timoshin responded with confidence, saying, “Great.”

Site Opinion

Stepan Timoshin’s candidacy for the presidency of Hertha Berlin has certainly stirred up a lot of controversy, especially with the recent financial allegations against him. While it’s clear that he has ambitious plans for the club, these allegations cast a shadow on his integrity and may affect his credibility with the fans and the membership. His legal team’s aggressive defence may help, but only time will tell if his campaign can weather this storm.

Hertha Berlin is at a crossroads, and Timoshin’s investment in football projects like Libero Football Finance shows he’s committed to the sport. However, the club’s members may have to decide whether the potential for growth under his leadership outweighs the risks posed by these ongoing allegations. His next moves will be closely watched, and the outcome of today’s vote could determine the future direction of the club.
