Despite his excitement at the prospect of playing in the Premier League, TEAMtalk reports that it will take a ‘monster’ offer to convince Atalanta to part with their star in January.
Ederson’s Rise at Atalanta
Last season, Ederson played a crucial role in Atalanta’s Europa League triumph, scoring seven goals in 53 appearances. This season, he has continued to shine, helping his team to second place in Serie A and keeping them in contention for Champions League qualification.
Initially viewed with scepticism by manager Gian Piero Gasperini, Ederson has transformed into a key player, prompting Atalanta to prioritise retaining him during the January window.
Manchester Rivals Lead the Race
Both Manchester United and Manchester City have reportedly spoken to Ederson’s entourage. City manager Pep Guardiola sees the midfielder as cover for the injured Rodri, while United are keen to bolster their midfield options under Ruben Amorim.
Liverpool remain in contention, but sources suggest that Ederson is open to any Premier League move, with a summer transfer being his preferred timeline. However, Atalanta are adamant that they will only consider offers of at least €60m (£50m) to part ways with the Brazilian international.
Atalanta’s Transfer Stance
With a historic Serie A title within reach, Atalanta are reluctant to sell their top players mid-season. Manager Gian Piero Gasperini has reportedly agreed with the club to retain key assets, including Ederson and winger Ademola Lookman, until the summer.
Ederson’s contract, which runs until mid-2027, gives Atalanta significant leverage to demand a hefty fee for his services. If the Italian side continues their strong domestic and European campaigns, his value could rise even further.
