Hamburger SV (HSV) have secured the future of one of its brightest young talents, Fabio Baldé, by agreeing on a long-term professional contract.
The announcement, made on Tuesday by the club, marks a significant milestone for both the player and the Die Rothosen , who continue to emphasize the development of homegrown talent within their ranks. Baldé has appeared in all five of HSV’s competitive matches this season, showcasing his potential as a key player for the club moving forward.
Stefan Kuntz, the club’s sporting director, highlighted the move’s significance, saying, “It is an important goal of HSV to bring its own talents closer to the professional squad. Fabio has developed enormously in recent months and has recommended himself for the professional team, not least through good training and playing performances with our U21s.”
Claus Costa, director of professional football at HSV, echoed Kuntz’s sentiments, reflecting on Baldé’s journey to the first team: “Especially since the winter training camp in Sotogrande, Fabio has gradually established himself among the professionals. He has remained persistent, worked hard, and believed in himself.” Costa also noted Baldé’s contributions on the field, including his first professional goal in the DFB Cup against Meppen and an assist against Münster, further demonstrating his readiness for top-level football.
Fabio Baldé, who joined HSV’s youth academy from SC Vorwärts-Wacker 04 Billstedt in 2020, has steadily climbed the ranks, progressing from the U17 to the U19 teams. Last season, he captained HSV’s A-Juniors, a testament to his leadership and maturity at a young age. Reflecting on the journey that led to his first professional contract, Baldé expressed his gratitude and excitement for the future.
“I am very pleased with the trust of those in charge. I have learned and invested a lot in the past few years. Together with my youth coaches, I have continued to work on myself. Now it’s important that I keep at it and repay the trust step by step,” Baldé said. He also expressed his pride in continuing his career with his hometown club, adding, “The fact that I can continue to do this long-term at my club in my hometown, of all places, fills me with pride.”
The decision to tie down Baldé on a long-term deal aligns with HSV’s broader strategy of promoting youth talent. With the club’s rich history of developing local players, the Hamburg native’s rise to the first team is seen as a positive example for other young prospects in the academy.
