Glasgow Rangers Manager ‘One Loss Away’ From Being Sacked

Five games have been played in the Scottish Premiership so far this season, and Glasgow Rangers already have a mountain to climb to catch arch rivals Celtic.

A recent report from the Football Insider suggests that Rangers manager Philippe Clement is on the brink of being fired if the Gers lose one more match. It is rumored that Derek McInnes, the current Kilmarnock manager, is being considered as a possible replacement for Clement.

According to Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider, the ex-Aberdeen manager may be in contention to assume control at Ibrox if club executives opt to dismiss Clement from his position.

Pete O Rourke said “Clement is currently under pressure at Rangers after an underwhelming start to the season that has left the club trailing Celtic by five points in the league table. The 50-year-old is just one loss away from losing his job, which will require the Scottish giants to find a suitable replacement.”

The Gers currently sit in third place in the Scottish Premiership, two results behind Celtic who are leading the league after winning the first Old Firm Derby of the season 3-0 at Celtic Park.

Additionally, they lag five points behind co-leaders Aberdeen, who have secured victories in all five of their league games this season. They will be joined by Rangers in the semi-finals of the Scottish League Cup, along with Motherwell and either Celtic or Falkirk, who are set to play later today. Cyriel Dessers scored twice and team captain James Tavernier converted a penalty as Rangers easily defeated Dundee in yesterday’s quarter-final match.

Rangers made a notable attempt to appoint McInnes as their manager in 2017 when he was leading Aberdeen, but the ex-Ibrox player declined the offer and chose to stay at Pittodrie.

He remained with the Dons until and then moved to Kilmarnock, where he successfully led the team to victory in the Scottish Championship. Subsequently, he steered the Ayrshire club into the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Rangers manager Philippe Clement is on the brink of being fired if Rangers lose one more game in the Scottish Premiership, which will be music to some Rangers Fan’s ears following their 3-0 loss to Celtic.

Derek McInnes, the current Kilmarnock manager, is being considered as a possible replacement for Clement, who would be a solid replacement for the Belgian, as he has ample experience in the Scottish Premiership with both Aberdeen & Kilmarnock.

The Gers currently sit in third place in the league, five points behind Aberdeen and Celtic. Rangers attempted to appoint McInnes as their manager in 2017, but that backfired, so do the Glasgow outfit have what it takes to lure the Scotsman to Ibrox this time?
