Gaziantep FK have announced two signings in as many days to bolster their assault on the top of the Turkish Super League.
Firstly, they have secured the signing of 24-year-old Congolese striker Christopher Lungoyi on a two-year contract, with a one-year option, following his stint with Juventus. The forward, who most recently played for Juventus U23, has joined Gaziantep after putting pen to paper in a ceremony attended by club president Memik Yılmaz.
Lungoyi, born in Kinshasa, Congo, began his football journey at the youth academy of Swiss club Servette. He broke into the first team in 2017 before moving on to Porto B in 2019 and Lugano in 2020. In 2021, Juventus U23 signed Lungoyi for €3.4 million. Since then, he has had loan spells with St. Gallen, Ascoli, and Yverdon Sport.
Across 166 professional matches, Lungoyi has scored 32 goals and provided nine assists, and will now look to make an impact in the Turkish Super Lig with Gaziantep FK. He won’t be the only one, as they have also announced the capture of experienced midfielder Badou Ndiaye on a two-year deal.
Ndiaye began his professional career at Diambars FC in Senegal. He made his European breakthrough with Norwegian side Bodo-Glimt in 2013 before moving to Turkey with Osmanlıspor in 2015. In 2017, he joined Galatasaray for €5 million, and a year later, Stoke City signed him for €16 million.
Following his stint in England, Ndiaye had loan spells with Galatasaray, Trabzonspor, Karagümrük, and Al-Ain. He later played for Aris and Adana Demirspor and, most recently, Pendikspor in 2024. Known for his game intelligence and pace, the 33-year-old has played in 407 official matches, scoring 74 goals and providing 56 assists.
Ndiaye has earned 31 caps for the Senegal national team, netting twice during his international career.
GFK are currently 13th in the Turkish Super League, but have only played two matches compared to four for most other sides. They haven’t finished in the top ten for the last three seasons, but will be hoping to change that in the 24/25 campaign.
Site Opinion
These are two interesting signings at different ends of the spectrum. On the one hand, we have Ndiaye, experienced across Europe, who should add steel and resolve to their midfield.
On the other hand, Lungoyi is at the beginning of his career and has plenty of experience with Juventus U23s. He now needs to transfer that to senior football, delivering on his potential.
It’s an interesting double-swoop by the club, and one that should see them at least consolidate their top ten ambitions.
