Feyenoord Injury Troubles: Two Out Long Term

Feyenoord are dealing with two significant injury setbacks, with Jordan Lotomba breaking his leg and Julian Carranza sidelined until 2025.

In a statement released yesterday, Feyenoord confirmed that Swiss right-back Jordan Lotomba has suffered a lower leg fracture. The injury occurred during a training session ahead of Feyenoord’s match against RKC Waalwijk. Lotomba has since undergone successful surgery, but the club stated he will be out for “months” while he focuses on his recovery.

Unfortunately for Feyenoord, this injury means Lotomba will not be available for an extended period, although the exact timeline for his return remains unclear.

In addition to Lotomba’s injury, Feyenoord striker Julian Carranza is also expected to be out for several weeks. The Argentine forward is dealing with a calf injury sustained during the club’s Champions League clash with Manchester City. Carranza missed Feyenoord’s recent match against Fortuna Sittard, and it has now been confirmed that he will not return to action before 2025.

It was revealed that Carranza has returned to Argentina for his rehabilitation, with Feyenoord supporting his recovery process. The absence of Carranza is unlikely to be a major issue for manager Brian Priske, as striker Santiago Gimenez has fully recovered from his own thigh injury and re-entered the squad.

Positive Updates Amid Injury Concerns

Despite the negative news surrounding Lotomba and Carranza, Feyenoord received some positive updates. Ghanaian midfielder Ibrahim Osman has rejoined the squad for full training, though it remains uncertain whether he will feature in the upcoming match against RKC Waalwijk.

Additionally, several players, including Quilindschy Hartman, Ayase Ueda, Hugo Bueno, and Jeyland Mitchell, are all following individual recovery programmes after their respective injuries.

Site Opinion

The news of Jordan Lotomba’s injury is a blow for Feyenoord, particularly as he was playing an important role in the team’s defence. The timeline of his recovery will be a crucial factor for Feyenoord’s performance in the coming months. However, the club is fortunate that they have depth in their squad, especially with Santiago Gimenez returning to action after his own injury. It is clear that Brian Priske will need to manage his squad effectively to navigate these injury challenges.

On the positive side, Ibrahim Osman’s return to full training is a promising development, and the team will be hoping that further recovery updates provide more good news. Despite these setbacks, Feyenoord’s injury woes may not be as damaging as initially feared, as long as they can maintain their squad’s depth and resilience.
