Juventus Transfer Plans Put Liverpool In The Spotlight

Juventus are reported to be weighing up a major goalkeeper change this summer, with Liverpool’s Alisson Becker and Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario both named as potential targets.

Italian reporting has framed the situation as a review of Juventus’ options following a difficult spell for Michele Di Gregorio, with the club considering whether to move for a proven No. 1 from the Premier League. It is a significant shift in approach, both financially and politically, because Juventus have traditionally demanded certainty in goal and are now being linked with a high-end market solution.

The same reports claim contacts have been made around Vicario, while Alisson has emerged as the more ambitious name on the list. Juventus are said to be assessing feasibility as part of a broader goalkeeping overhaul, with deputy Mattia Perin’s future also mentioned and long-time squad goalkeeper Carlo Pinsoglio reportedly considering retirement.

Juventus head coach Luciano Spalletti has publicly attempted to ease the pressure on his current goalkeeper, even as speculation gathers around potential replacements. Speaking about the situation, he was quoted as saying:

“He has no more responsibility than the others,”

“He is in a moment of difficulty like the whole team.”

That defence has not stopped the market talk. Juventus have been linked with a return to the Premier League for a goalkeeper who can deliver immediate authority, and the two names being discussed offer different profiles and price points.

Marquee option

Alisson is presented as the marquee option. The Liverpool goalkeeper’s contract situation has been a major part of the discussion, with Juventus believed to be looking for an opening that would make a deal possible. Liverpool, however, are under no obligation to sell, and any move would require serious money as well as a clear willingness from the player to leave.

The story also lands in a sensitive moment for Juventus, with European football shaping budgets and priorities. The reports have suggested that Champions League qualification could strengthen Juventus’ financial position for an elite goalkeeper pursuit, while also raising the urgency to rebuild a defensive base that the club historically rely on.

If Juventus cannot land either Premier League target, alternatives have been referenced, including Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi, although figures around that potential deal have been described as significant.

For Liverpool, Juventus’ interest is a reminder that elite goalkeepers rarely stay outside the rumour cycle for long. For Juventus, it is a sign of intent, whether that ends with a formal bid or simply pushes them to accelerate talks elsewhere in the market.
