Juve Stabia Granted Permission To Return Home

Juve Stabia has officially announced that their fans will return to the Stadio Romeo Menti for the first time this season, starting with their upcoming Serie B match against Palermo on September 14th.

Recently, Le Vespe has had to play some of their matches away from their home ground, Stadio Romeo Menti, primarily due to renovations and improvements being made to the stadium. These upgrades are focused on improving the facilities and bringing the venue up to the required standards for higher levels of competition, particularly following their promotion to Serie B. However, the Provincial Supervisory Commission has granted the long-awaited safety permit, allowing the club to host games at their home ground once again.

This development relieves supporters, who have been forced to follow the team from afar during the season’s early weeks. The announcement was celebrated widely as fans gathered around the stadium, singing and cheering in anticipation of returning to the stands. The club’s current strong form amplifies the excitement, as Juve Stabia sits close to the top of the league standings.

Mayor Vicinanza shared the news on social media and later appeared on television alongside Juve Stabia President Langella, expressing their satisfaction after months of delays and administrative hurdles. Before the match against Palermo, the club will also hold an official event at the stadium to present the team to the supporters, adding further cause for celebration.

Juve Stabia, based in Castellammare di Stabia, has recently experienced fluctuating fortunes. The club, founded in 1907, has often bounced between Serie B and Serie C. In the 2018-2019 season, Juve Stabia earned promotion to Serie B after topping the Serie C table, but their stay in the second tier was short-lived. Following a difficult 2019-2020 season, the team was relegated to Serie C after finishing in the bottom three.

2023/24 brought another promotion, with the club winning Serie C South by ten points, marking a return to the second tier. They’ve started the new season positively and are currently second as they aim for back-to-back promotions.

Juve Stabia have got eyes on the top flight, and after a blistering start, you wouldn’t rule out an assualt on the top two. However, to do that you need to make the most of marginal gains, and playing on their home ground is a marginal gain.

Of their two wins and two draws this season, only one game has been played at ‘home’, which is, in fact, the Stadio Leonardo Garilli in Piacenza, a long way from home. They won that game 1-0 against Mantova, but without the backing of much of their support. This move finally gives them the chance to get back to their own ground, and kick on in Serie B
