Besiktas Wonderkid Targeted By Premier League New Boys

Leeds United are preparing a summer swoop for Beşiktaş striker Semih Kılıçsoy, with club officials reportedly planning a trip to Istanbul in the coming days to open formal negotiations.

The 18-year-old, one of the brightest young talents in Turkish football, has attracted growing attention from the newly promoted Premier League side. Leeds are said to view Kılıçsoy as a long-term investment and are exploring a potential loan arrangement as part of the deal.

Having secured promotion back to the top flight, Leeds are actively building a squad capable of competing at the highest level — and believe Kılıçsoy’s technical ability, movement, and sharp eye for goal could flourish in England. Sources in Turkey claim the club has been monitoring the youngster for several months and now intend to make their interest official.

Beşiktaş are no strangers to interest in their young star. Former president Hasan Arat and current president Serdal Adalı both reportedly rebuffed advances for Kılıçsoy during the January transfer window, standing firm in their valuation of the player. With another offer imminent, the club will face a fresh decision on whether to cash in or continue developing the forward in Istanbul.

Emerged as a standout

The teenager has emerged as one of the standout players at Vodafone Park this season, with mature performances belying his age. A product of the Beşiktaş academy, he is now viewed as a central part of the club’s future — but that hasn’t stopped foreign scouts from circling.

While Leeds prepare their pitch for Kılıçsoy, Beşiktaş are also busy on the recruitment front. Reports from Turkey suggest the Black Eagles are tracking Vancouver Whitecaps centre-back Ranko Veselinović. The 26-year-old Serbian, who has two senior caps for his national team, is said to be keen on a return to Europe and could offer versatile cover in both defence and midfield.

Elsewhere, midfielder Gedson Fernandes is enjoying the most prolific campaign of his career. The Portuguese international has netted 11 goals and provided two assists in 46 appearances this season — a vital figure in the Beşiktaş engine room.

Site Opinion

Leeds United’s interest in Semih Kılıçsoy signals their intent to blend youth with experience as they return to the Premier League. While the striker may not be an instant first-team regular, securing a talent of his calibre early could prove to be a masterstroke.

From Beşiktaş’s perspective, selling now may be tempting, but with Kılıçsoy’s value only likely to rise, holding firm could be the smarter move. A summer tug-of-war may be on the cards.
