Anderlecht’s Injury Woes Continue: Mario Stroeykens Out

At Anderlecht, supporters are holding their breath as Mario Stroeykens has been sidelined following an ankle injury sustained against Beerschot yesterday. Coach David Hubert faces another challenge as his squad continues to be plagued by injuries, raising concerns over the upcoming fixtures.

Nasty Tackle

Stroeykens was tackled from behind by Beerschot defender Fayed just before half-time and had to leave the field injured. With the injury crisis growing, Hubert may have to cope with another absence, adding to the already long list. “I still have players, but it’s not fun, especially with our busy schedule,” Hubert commented after the team’s hard-fought 2-1 win.Anderlecht’s medical team is working overtime as Samuel Edozie and Tristan Degreef have both been unavailable for recent matches, and Stroeykens has now joined them on the injury list. “We will see how bad it is,” Hubert said when asked about Stroeykens’ condition. “It’s not pleasant, especially at this stage of the competition. Our schedule is very busy, so we have to find solutions.” The coach’s concern is understandable, given the team’s packed calendar and mounting challenges.

The injury situation is exacerbated by the ongoing absence of key players such as Jan Vertonghen, Thorgan Hazard, and Majeed Ashimeru. “We still have players, but it’s absolutely no fun,” Hubert admitted. In addition to the injury woes, attention has also turned to the condition of the pitch at Lotto Park. Hubert raised concerns, “Is it because of the condition of the field? It doesn’t help,” he said, though he acknowledged, “But I don’t know what a solution could be. I’m not an expert. At this time of year it’s hard to do anything about it.”

Site Opinion

Anderlecht’s current injury crisis highlights a growing issue for the club. With key players unavailable, Coach Hubert’s leadership will be put to the test as he navigates a tight fixture list. The challenge of balancing injuries with the demands of the competition could see Anderlecht struggle in the coming weeks, especially as their squad depth is tested.

The condition of the pitch at Lotto Park is another factor that should not be overlooked. While it may not be the primary cause of the injuries, it undoubtedly plays a role in the team’s overall struggles. The club should consider investing in better pitch maintenance, particularly during the colder months when conditions worsen. With injuries mounting, every little factor could make a difference in the team’s performance.
