AC Milan Join Race for Inter Midfielder Amid Growing Serie A Interest

AC Milan are reportedly considering a summer move for Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi, joining domestic rivals Roma and Napoli in the race for his signature.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInter1908, the 25-year-old Italy international is expected to leave Inter at the end of the current season, having struggled to secure a consistent starting role at the club.

While Frattesi is likely to feature for the Nerazzurri in the final matches of the campaign, there is a growing sense within the club that he does not form part of Inter’s long-term project.

Frattesi is reportedly keen to join a team where he would be guaranteed regular starts — something that AC Milan, Roma, and Napoli may all be willing to offer.

Frattesi has long been on Roma’s radar. The capital club were heavily linked with the midfielder during the January transfer window but failed to secure a deal. Their interest, however, remains.

Napoli have also emerged as a serious contender, with the Partenopei believed to be monitoring Frattesi’s situation closely.

Now, AC Milan have reportedly entered the fray. Gazzetta claims the Rossoneri are weighing up a move for the former Sassuolo man, who may be seen as a long-term solution in midfield as Stefano Pioli looks to reshape his squad this summer.

Davide Frattesi’s situation at Inter is emblematic of the modern game, where even top-tier talent can find themselves on the fringes of elite squads. Despite his energy and goal-scoring instincts, Frattesi hasn’t been afforded the consistent role he craves at the Nerazzurri. A move could revitalise his career — and with Euro 2028 looming, regular minutes will be crucial for his international ambitions.

From a footballing perspective, AC Milan’s interest makes sense. They lack a true box-to-box midfielder with Frattesi’s dynamism. Adding him would not only strengthen their squad but deliver a symbolic blow to Inter, deepening the rivalry. Whether Milan can outmanoeuvre Roma and Napoli financially and tactically remains to be seen.
