Legends Charity Game Set for Lisbon Kick-Off

The inaugural Legends Charity Game will take place at Sporting CP’s Estádio José Alvalade on Monday 15th September 2025.

The event, organised by Sport Global, aims to raise €1 million for charity and will see Portugal Legends take on World Legends in front of a global audience. Full details can be found at the official Legends Charity Game website.

The match marks the first in a series scheduled to run annually until 2030, with Estádio José Alvalade confirmed as the host following finalisation of the Champions League calendar.

Kick-off is set for 20:00, with player arrivals at 18:00, gates opening at 18:30, and a pre-game show beginning at 19:40.

At half-time, Portuguese duo Calema will perform live in front of 50,000 fans and millions watching worldwide.

Portugal Legends Confirmed

The Portugal Legends team will be captained by Luís Figo and feature a host of the nation’s most celebrated players. Confirmed participants include Euro 2016 winners Ricardo Quaresma, Nani, Eliseu, Bruno Alves, Ricardo Carvalho and Pepe, as well as Champions League winners Fábio Coentrão, Maniche, Pauleta, Vítor Baía, José Bosingwa and Deco. Other stars such as Beto, Jorge Andrade, Dani, Tiago Mendes, Simão, Hélder Postiga and Nuno Gomes will also take part, with Costinha serving as both player and manager.

“It’s always a pleasure to come back to my country and play football! Hope to see a full stadium in my hometown, Lisbon, for this amazing Legends Charity Game and raise funds for important charity causes.”

Quaresma added:

“Wearing the Portuguese shirt has always filled me with pride, and winning Euro 2016 was the greatest moment of my career. I’m really looking forward to representing Portugal again, especially for such a good cause.”

World Legends Line-Up

The World Legends squad promises formidable opposition, with confirmed names including Kaká, Peter Schmeichel, Petr Cech, Edwin van der Sar, Rene Higuita, Carles Puyol, Roberto Carlos, John Terry, Cafu, Javier Zanetti, Marco Materazzi, Gheorghe Hagi, Youri Djorkaeff, Christian Karembeu, Krasimir Balakov, Gaizka Mendieta, Marek Hamsik, Javier Saviola, Michael Owen, Henrik Larsson, Alessandro Del Piero and Hristo Stoichkov.
