Bundesliga Roundup: Ten Man Hamburg Shock Stuttgart As Bayern Munich Extend Record

It was another thrilling weekend in the Bundesliga.

Promoted side Hamburger SV claimed one of the most dramatic victories of their season with a 2-1 win over Stuttgart, secured deep into stoppage time by substitute Fabio Vieira. The result was even more remarkable given that Hamburg were down to ten men from the 81st minute, following the dismissal of 18-year-old Norwegian winger Alexander Rössing Lelesiit for a second booking.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Hamburg found their moment on the break. Fabio Baldé surged down the left after intercepting a loose free kick and managed to move the ball across to Vieira, who finished inside the far post in the 94th minute to send the home crowd into uproar.

Before the dismissal, Rössing Lelesiit had been central to Hamburg’s attacking threat. His powerful run and persistence through challenges allowed him to square for Robert Glatzel, who opened the scoring in the 17th minute.

Stuttgart, still adjusting after their midweek Europa League victory, initially rested 29-year-old forward Deniz Undav. He was forced into action earlier than expected due to an injury to Chris Führich in the 40th minute. Undav responded with his sixth goal in three league matches, reacting quickest to a rebound in the 54th minute to level the match. His influence could not prevent another damaging defeat, leaving Stuttgart frustrated after dominating long spells of the second half.

Frankfurt Salvage a Point Through Late Drama

Eintracht Frankfurt earned a 1-1 draw against Wolfsburg thanks to a stoppage-time penalty from Michy Batshuayi. Wolfsburg, under interim coach Daniel Bauer, led through a well-struck 67th-minute volley from Aaron Zehnter, but their hopes of ending a four-game losing run were denied after a late VAR review penalised Denis Vavro for catching Arthur Theate.

Frankfurt struggled without injured forward Jonathan Burkardt, who has 11 goals in 17 matches this season and is now expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the year due to a calf problem. They were also missing Can Uzun and Hugo Larsson, leaving their attack significantly weakened.

Freiburg Punish Struggling Mainz

In the late match, Freiburg cruised to a 4-0 win over a Mainz side that finished with ten men. Paul Nebel was sent off after a dangerous challenge on Philipp Lienhart, with the visitors already trailing by two. Mainz remain at the bottom of the table after suffering their eighth defeat of the campaign.

Bayern Munich Extend Their Bundesliga Record

A busy weekend across the division followed Bayern Munich’s dramatic 3-1 victory over St Pauli, secured through stoppage-time goals by Luis Díaz and Nicolas Jackson. The result ensured Bayern stretched their record run to 44 consecutive rounds at the top of the Bundesliga table.

Fan Protests Continue

Supporter groups across Germany again observed 12 minutes of silence in stadiums, protesting government proposals regarding surveillance, personalised tickets and tighter matchday security. These measures will be discussed further at an interior ministry conference from December 3 to 5.
