Bundesliga Round-Up: Grifo Strikes Late as Bayern Munich Extend Lead at the Top

Vincenzo Grifo’s late free kick earned SC Freiburg a dramatic draw against Eintracht Frankfurt.

This, on a weekend that also saw Bayer Leverkusen triumph in a seven-goal contest and Bayern Munich extend their perfect start to the Bundesliga season. It was an action-packed set of fixtures across Germany, with late goals, penalties, and standout individual displays defining matchday seven.

Grifo’s Late Magic as Freiburg Hold Frankfurt

Vincenzo Grifo came off the bench to curl home a stunning free kick in the 87th minute, rescuing SC Freiburg a 2–2 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt. Derry Scherhant opened the scoring early, punishing a misplaced pass from Robin Koch to give Freiburg the perfect start after just two minutes.

However, Jonathan Burkardt hit back for Frankfurt, equalising in the 18th minute and adding a second ten minutes before half-time to flip the contest. The visitors looked set for victory until Grifo’s precise strike beat Kevin Trapp, ensuring the points were shared.

Touré Shines as Hoffenheim Cruise, Leverkusen Win Classic

At the Millerntor, nineteen-year-old Bazoumana Touré netted his first Bundesliga goal as Hoffenheim comfortably dispatched St. Pauli 3–0. Andrej Kramarić doubled the lead soon after, before Grischa Prömel sealed the victory late on. The result moved Hoffenheim into eighth and left St. Pauli nursing a fourth consecutive defeat.

Elsewhere, Bayer Leverkusen edged a thrilling 4–3 victory over Mainz 05. Alejandro Grimaldo scored twice, once from the spot, with further goals from Cédric Kofane and Martin Terrier enough to hold off Lee Jae-Sung, Nadiem Amiri, and Armindo Sieb for the hosts. The result cemented Leverkusen’s reputation as one of Europe’s most entertaining sides.

Bayern Stay Perfect, Stuttgart and Leipzig Impress

Bayern Munich continued their dominance with a 2–1 win over Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker. Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala found the net before Julian Brandt grabbed a consolation for the visitors.

Meanwhile, RB Leipzig beat Hamburger SV 2–1 thanks to a double from Christoph Baumgartner, while Albert Sambi Lokonga scored the only goal for Hamburg. Stuttgart impressed away from home, defeating Wolfsburg 3–0 through strikes from Tiago Tomás, Maximilian Mittelstädt, and Angelo Stiller.

Elsewhere, Heidenheim drew 2–2 with Werder Bremen in an entertaining encounter featuring goals from , Jens Stage, Stefan Schimmer, and Jonas Föhrenbach. Köln and Augsburg also shared the spoils, with Felix Rieder scoring from the spot before Shady El Mala levelled late on.
